How to Motivate Yourself and Stay Motivated + 13 Motivational Quotes

Motivation is completely up to you. The only person who can motivate you is yourself. Once you realize this you will have all of the power. But sometimes it’s than that. In this post, I will be sharing some tips on how I stay motivated.

What is it that you want to achieve?

Whether you want to work out more, eat healthy, meditate, do yoga every day, start a blog, etc. Whatever it is that you are trying to achieve, think about the reason you are doing it. Are you doing it for yourself or to impress someone else? If you aren’t doing something for the right reasons it can be hard to stay motivated.

How badly do you want it?

Let’s say you start working towards your goal today. Picture yourself two years from now where you want to be. You could be a completely new you heading in a completely new direction in life. Now, let’s say you don’t start today. Again, picture yourself two years from now. Where do you see yourself? Probably very similar to your life right now.

A lot of us think about all the work we have to do to get to that place and we get discouraged. But whether you start today or not two years are still going to go by. So think about where you want to be when that time comes because it is coming.

Don’t be afraid of change.

What’s stopping you from starting right now? Is it that you’re afraid of change. If so then you will always be held back.

If you don’t accept risks then you never know where you could end up. Life has so many surprises. Go where life takes you and accept everything that aligns with your path. It could lead you to some really beautiful places.

Don’t think about time

We always have time. In fact, we only have time. The older we get, the busier we get, we make excuses that there’s just not enough time. Sure, we may only live this life for a short time, but that is why we need to make the most out of it.

If you think you’re too old to start working out or doing yoga or whatever it is that you want to do, think again. If anything it’s a perfect time. Doing things for yourself that make you feel good and happy is only going to give you motivation and the energy to do more. Don’t let your age stop you from doing something because no matter how old you are; it is extremely important to take care of yourself. Don’t let your age define you. It will only bring you down then you will actually start to feel old. Eating healthy and working out will only make you feel younger and stronger. OR if you wanted to be a writer, then do it; Share your words while you can. Whatever it is you want, don’t let anything stop you, especially a number.

Another thing you may be thinking is how am I supposed to do this when I’m so busy. All I’m going to say is if you really want it then you will find a way to make time for it. We aren’t here just to go to a job every day that exhausts us to the point where we can’t find time to do the things we enjoy.

How to Stay Motivated?

Now that we’ve talked about how to motivate ourselves, let’s talk about ways to stay motivated. The best way to do this is to align your mind with your goal. Visioning what you want and how to get it is pretty easy. Actually getting to that place, from fantasy to reality, is the hard part. The distance between wanting and receiving is usually where problems occur.

We often blame our failure on procrastination. But I believe it’s a little deeper than this. Our feelings are not in touch with our intentions. If we don’t truly desire something, we are not going to be motivated to work for it. Let this be a sign, if you just can’t seem to stick with something then maybe it’s not in the best interest for your path.

Sometimes we don’t necessarily want to do something but we feel it’s for the best. For example, we don’t always want to do homework but if we do, we know we will become smarter and get better grades. Or sometimes we know we should be eating healthily but we don’t like healthy foods. If this is how you feel, keep reading. I’m going to talk about a few more ways to stay motivated.

Manifest it

Successfully manifesting your goal means aligning your mind and emotion. In order for you to achieve this, you need to not only vision a success but also feel successful. If you believe you can do anything, then you will succeed at everything you do. It’s really that simple to motivate yourself.

As we mentioned earlier, this isn’t always easy but there are some easier ways to do it if you look at it with a different approach. Instead of manifesting “doing your homework” start telling yourself, you are going to get better grades. It may not seem like much but the emotion in it can really help. When you think about doing homework, you may get stressed thinking about it which is going to make your mind think it’s a bad thing. This is why you start to procrastinate. But if you say “my grades are going to be great” you will start to feel happy and successful. If you feel this way, then you will start acting this way.

Since I started My Spiritual Journey, I’ve began to see how this process really works. We can literally control almost anything.

Set Goals & Reward Yourself

By setting short-term goals – if you achieve them you will feel motivated to keep going. Instead of constantly thinking about your end goal, try to picture a realistic short-term goal. Once you accept that, it will feel like anything more than that is going to be so much more rewarding.

Let’s say you want to be more consistent with blogging. Set a goal to write 2 posts a week for 2 weeks; or one post a week for a month. You are going to feel so good knowing that you are consistent. Give yourself a small reward like a movie night or a night out with friends. Reaching a small goal and rewarding yourself when you do is going to make you feel so good and that will make you wanna keep going.

Even setting a daily goal can be a great idea!

Stick To a Routine

Routines are a great way to stay motivated. They can be hard to get used to at first but once you get used to them, it can be a lot easier to stick to them. Once you have a routine, you will get used to being on a schedule and have an idea of how things are going to go. This can be good because you will start to feel safe and it’s helpful to feel good about it. This will make you want to keep going.

Daily planners are great for making routines. You can plan everything and jot notes along the way.

Breaks Are Necessary

Remember that taking breaks is a necessary part of life. We take breaks all the time. Bathroom breaks, work breaks, food/drink breaks; even sports teams take breaks all the time. Everything we do in life is not constant. If you try to rush through sometimes without stopping you are going to crash.

Don’t beat yourself up if you have a slight downfall. It will only cause you to lose motivation. Accept that you will need to take breaks and that’s okay. Don’t let this discourage you. Let it make you stronger and even more motivated to keep going afterward. We’re humans. We can’t do everything at once.

Get a Friend to Help You

Having a friend who is going through the same thing can be quite helpful. It’s nice knowing you have someone who you can talk to who really gets how you are feeling. With a friend, you guys can motivate each other daily. You’re less likely to give up if you have someone to help you.

And if you don’t know anyone personally, the internet is a great place! There are so many people that you don’t even know who have so much in common with you. But be careful talking to strangers! Don’t give them money and if you ever meet them go to a public place and bring a friend. (Seriously, watch Dr. Phill)

Get Off Your Bum and Just Do It!

The best way to do something is to just get up and do it! Don’t sit down on the couch and think about it. You will most likely be there for hours thinking about doing it and never getting up. (Trust me I know from experience!) This is the only way to motivate yourself.

Do a countdown. Take a deep breath, then countdown from three, and then get up. Do what you’ve gotta do so you will be able to relax and stop worrying about it.

Don’t Give Up

Most of the time we just don’t feel like putting the time and energy into doing something that we know we should be doing. Emotion will always win over the mind. So the best way to truly motivate yourself is to believe and think positively. Find ways to motivate yourself and don’t give up. Whether you reach your goal or not, it’s completely up to you so don’t give up! I believe in you!

Setting short term (and then stretch goals) made the most difference to me! Inevitably I reach the first one but am pumped by my success that I keep going to reach the 2nd!

Love that! It’s important to take the time and enjoy the journey. Things take time so if we’re constantly thinking about our end goal/the future; we’re not focusing on our present which is truly the most important thing as that is all we have!

Couldn’t agree more. Having a routine really helps and of course not thinking about time too. Many people go unmotivated because they think it’s too late. Well, as they say, better late than never.

I know a lot of people who say it’s too late for them! But I always tell them, whatever your goal is you need to give your all while you still have a chance! If you can still dream it, then it’s not too late to turn it into a reality! Definitely better late then never ❤️

Amazing tips! 🤩 I especially love where you wrote “All I’m going to say is if you really want it then you will find a way to make time for it.” It’s completely true, there is always a way to make time if you prioritize properly. It also totally relates to just doing it. There is no need to wait for the perfect moment to get up and do something. By waiting and sitting around you are only wasting time and delaying your success.

This is something that helps me a lot too! Each day I do something, I’ll wanna keep doing it every coming day. When I stop it’s harder to get back on track! I’m learning a lot more about motivation and mindset and it has really helped me to become more productive! Thanks for your comment ☺️

Yes, breaks are necessary! I completely agree with this because I’ve learned it the hard way. It’s really important to just pause at moments and just kind of shut down.

It’s so important to know that you don’t have to wait to start a goal. We often tell ourselves, “I’ll start on Monday,” but why not right now? Great tips!

If someone in my close circle is having motivational trouble, I know exactly the article to direct them to 🙂 Motivation is for such a large part mind work indeed, and I appreciate the mindful way in which you approach this topic. Besides all those awesome quotes that can become part of an intention practice for every day, this part truly resonated with me: “Emotion will always win over the mind. So the best way to truly motivate yourself is to believe and think positively.”

Every step of your journey will be new. Whether you feel good, bad or scared, you have to trust the process. Believe that each moment is building your path.

Don’t worry about the future. It will come and you will get through it just like you did with every moment so far.

How To Evolve Spiritually. The thing that no one How To Evolve Spiritually.

The thing that no one tells you about evolving spiritually is that your spiritual journey is a lifelong process. You may have multiple spiritual awakenings.

You will have ups and downs where you will feel confusing about life, you may feel sad about being alive, fearful about what comes after life, or you may feel joyful and full of love and excitement for all living things.

Your emotions will spiral. But you will gain a whole new outlook on life. A lot of people get scared when they hear these things but I promise you there is nothing to be scared of.

Having a spiritual awakening can be beautiful. You start understand so much more. It has completely changed my life in the best way.

Don’t try to force a spiritual experience. Instead work on practicing inner work to help control your mind and become closer to connecting with your higher self.

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get there right away. It will come when you’re ready. I’ve had multiple spiritual awakenings. I had my first one and it really opened my eyes. Then I slowly drifted away from the feeling but it has always come back for me. And every time it does, it’s stronger! I feel more spiritual then ever.

Like I mentioned earlier. It’s a life long process and there are many ups and downs. But so is there in life. We try not to believe because we are scared of change. But once you get passed that fear, you can finally start to feel love and happiness.

Here’s a little quote that I love! It’s super important to start viewing your journey, whatever that may be, as a lifestyle and learning to fall in love with it.

Trust the process. Things take time but it will be worth it. Don’t get discouraged by one little set back. Every path has its ups and downs. You will get past it and only get stronger from here 💪
